Interview with Jason of Indecent
Exposure
1. Who's currently in the
band and what do they do?
We
got a total of 5 guys in the band. Karl is on
vocals, myself (Jack) on guitar, Steve on bass,
Tom on guitar, and Ed on Drums.
2.
Pick one word that best describes each member
of the band.
Karl
- Big, Jack - Boss, Tom - Loud, Steve - Nudist,
Ed - Girls
3. Whats the most interesting/odd
thing you've ever seen at a show?
At
this one show about 4 years ago, Out To Win was
playing and during one of their breakdown parts,
this kid in the pit went out of control. The kid
was doing a windmill twirling sort of dance move
and started spinning a little to fast. He spun
right past the singer and into the drums. He went
straight into the bass drum, knocking over all
the cymbals. He rolled over the bass drum and
then the kid fell into the guitarist. Chris, the
guitar player, has a full stack of speaker cabinets
that ended up on the floor along with his guitar
head. That was pretty damn funny. Especially,
when the kid was one of our close friends. He
gets busted on about it to this day.
4.
In five years where do you see the band...together,
different
projects, retired? Why?
I
still see us playin shows. We have been doing
it since 1997, so whats to stop us. We will definitely
have a different lineup, being that our bassist
is leaving us for college. I will be doing this
band until we can go on anymore. We have no plans
of stopping.
5.
Britney Spears favorite position?
Hmm.
Isn't she supposed to be a virgin still?? Well,
I know our drummer could think up a couple of
his favorite positions with her. We've actually
heard a few from him in the past
Especially
since he has a picture of her pasted on his drum
kit!!
6.
Do you think she really drinks Pepsi?
Probably
not. Not with the body she walks around with.
7.
What do you feel is the biggest problem with shows
today, and why?
The
toughguy-crew mentality has gotten way out of
hand today. People are goin to shows starting
fights for no reason and scaring kids away. If
you have to act hard for people to fear you, then
you and your so-called crew are actually losers.
The real hardcore "crews" get respect
because of who they are and the respect they give,
not because of how many fights they get in at
a show. Sure there comes a time when people have
to stand up and set people straight, but you get
the most respect when its done when its got to
be done. Oh yeah, these emo kids turned mod are
really ridiculous too.
8.
Most underrated band in hardcore in the past 2
years?
Almost
every band is highly underrated. We take a backseat
to this new metal shit that everyone is jumping
to be a part of. First it was emo, now its emo
kids playing metal, whats next? They gonna try
to get back into the real hardcore scene? No matter
what hardcore band you are, your underrated. I'll
leave it at that.
9.
Who let the dogs out?
Don't
know. But thank God they're back in.
10. Last cd you bought that
never made it past its first listen?
I
really don't buy stuff unless I know its good.
Never ran into that problem.
11. When was the last time
you left your house and what was it for(work
doesnt count)?
Last
time I left was to go over my girl's house. Ate
some food, watched some tv
. I gotta stop
there.
12. Pick 5 bands for a "dream
show" lineup. Bands have to be currently
playing and no members can be mods.
Integrity,
One Life Crew, Pantera, Ozzy Osbourne, and Strength
For A Reason. Of course, since it's a dream show,
we'd have to be on the bill.
13.
Whats the one thing you would want a kid leaving
your show with?
Some
great words to say about us to everyone he knows.
14.
Whats the best current cartoon and why?
He-Man..
Its back and better than ever on the Cartoon Network!!!
Can't argue with He-Man.
15.
More inspirational cultural figure...George W.
Bush or the leprechan
Wait,
I get the two confused. Definitely the leprechan.
16.
What are your feelings on the current craze with
colored vinyl/record
collecting? Do you think the music has taken a
backseat to being the first kid on your block
with triple swirled exploding dildo colored vinyl?
I
never really was into collecting colored vinyl.
I was just like "Wow, a red record."
A little while back, there was the colored vinyl
craze around here, and it died pretty quick. I
don't think that the music takes a backseat cause
obviously the kid who buys the record likes the
band, its just that he or she wants the record
more cause its colored vinyl. What could say how
much they like a band more, than spending a huge
amount of $$ on the band's album, colored or not.
17.
What are some NON hardcore influences on your
bands writing, lyrically
or musically, explain.
Basically,
our music is fueled by happenings around our own
lives. Friends, Family, and our personal lives
are all reflected in our music. We get calls all
the time from kids who say how much they can relate
to our music and how it helped them get through
some rough times in their own lives. Nothing gives
a band more motivation than that.
18.
How often do you go to shows that YOUR band isn't
playing, they dont
necessarily have to be hardcore shows.
Put
it this way, whenever there is a show in our area,
you'll always find a member of our band there.
19. What do you want on
your tombstone?
Pepperoni
and mushrooms
20. Any last words?
We would like to thank Jason and NGS for the opportunity
to do this interview. I would also like to thank
James and Thornz Records for helping us out, we
appreciate it. Whats up to Insult To Injury, Pound
For Pound, Demonseed, Dave Correa, Mad Mike, and
all the other guys from the Barn Bash!! The courteous
Indiana roadside service station for the $107
fan belt bill. Thanks to the BFL family, Nanticoke
Straight Edge, and everyone in the Midwest and
everywhere who supports us and the hardcore scene.
Keep hardcore strong! Stay True! Peace.
